In 1966, Douglas MacDiarmid held a solo exhibition at Palmerston North Public Art Gallery. Organised by the Manawatu Society of Arts, this show represented his first ‘ensemble’ collection of paintings that each stood alone but harmonised together. Five paintings from this show became part of the gallery’s permanent collection. These works and others are brought together here in honour of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
