ERA—Elam Returning Artists—begins as a kind of coven, a group of seven women artists, linked here by a shared interest and common drive to explore, reform and reinvigorate our relationships with nature and with alternative systems of knowing and being. As the season turns toward wintering, our diverse approaches come together, exploring seasonal processes driven by feminisms, climate and land.
In the spirit of this period, known by celtic pagan’s as Samhain (popularly celebrated as Halloween), this exhibition explores these transitional moments, that can be described as “the thinning of the veil" through a range of approaches including research based, magical, spiritual and collaborative mulitidisiplinary practices. The exhibition will include photography, painting, plant assemblage, mark making, textiles and video works
