I always considered myself a minor writer. My province is small, and I try to explore it very, very thoroughly.

Leonard Cohen

Works in this exhibition draw on the long history and multiple traditions of the miniature - both Western and Byzantine - Indian, Persian, Murghal... cultures who recognised that the large and the great are always achieved from an accumulation of the small.

The pieces in the exhibition, though only ranging in size from A5 to A4, have a collective greediness for space that makes it clear that size and scale are not measured by the same yardstick.

Small paintings by Jane Bustin, Erin Lawlor and Matthew Allen, are alongside a sculptural relief of Jan Albers, coloured cardboard constructions by Elisabeth Vary, and tiny aluminium monochromes by Imi Knoebel. Come and take a close look, up close.
