The BMW Art Journey, a joint initiative between Art Basel and BMW, will present new work by Zac Langdon-Pole during this years Art Basel Miami Beach.
The trajectory of Zac Langdon-Pole’s BMW Art Journey, titled Sutures of the Sky, took him back in time by exploring how people have mapped the stars throughout history. From December 2018—March 2019 Langdon-Pole travelled to over twenty locations within Western Europe and through the Pacific Islands. With his focus on celestial mapping, he sought to trace how Western forms of mapping have interacted with perspectives from the Pacific region.
Langdon-Pole's new publication, published by Hatje Cantz, documenting his journey and providing a survey of his work from the past six years, will be launched during the fair at an event at Soho House on December 3. This event also includes a panel conversation about art and space titled Stargazing, with Zac Langdon-Pole, Terry Virts (former NASA Astronaut) and Sanford Biggers (Visual Artist), moderated by András Szántó.
