Located in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Jonathan Smart Gallery has been showcasing the very best of contemporary New Zealand art since 1988. Its diverse exhibition programme includes painting, photography, sculpture, video, and installation art. With a focus on exhibiting work that encourages discussion and debate, the gallery enjoys the reputation of providing a welcoming place for contemplation and conversation on contemporary art, artists and their practice.
Represented artists include senior practitioners such as Julia Morison, John Pule, et al, Neil Dawson & Anne Noble; those in their mid-career including Neil Pardington, Saskia Leek, Nathan Pohio, Heather Straka & Mark Braunias; alongside more recently established artists such as Emily Hartley-Skudder, Oliver Perkins, Marie Le Lievre, Tjalling de Vries & Zina Swanson.
