The animals whose planet we share have inspired artists for 30,000 years. They remain a popular motif across a range of styles and in every media.

Artists are invited to submit works in this theme. The title Fantastic Beasts does not imply creatures only of our imagination, although these have exercised the imaginations of artists for millennia. This is an opportunity to celebrate the creatures (‘great and small’) who enrich our lives or fascinate or intrigue us.

A President’s Prize of $750 and Curator’s Prize of $750 plus five Merit Awards of $100 are offered.

Artists may submit up to three entries. Original works completed in the last 12 months will be considered by the selection panel.

Entries close at 5pm Sunday 22 October and artists will be notified of selection on 30 October.

Final delivery of selected artwork will be due by 4pm on Sunday 26 November (5pm Friday 24 November for courier deliveries).

The opening function will be on Thursday 30 November 6:00-7:30pm.
