Artspace Aotearoa aims to actively contribute to the body of knowledge within the field of contemporary art. Each team member seeks to be active in this, by expanding their own personal awareness of current cultural and political discourse.

The year of training and development will include:

– An opportunity to work with Aotearoa New Zealand and international partners, including artists and curators.

– Opportunities to network with relevant channels that connect with, and professionally benefit your curatorial practice.

– Direct involvement in all stages of the organisation's projects while being given the freedom to evolve and initiate projects.

– Opportunity for artistic development within the contemporary art public sector.

– Develop your curatorial portfolio within Aotearoa New Zealand.

– An opportunity to develop your own learning process, which can include a series of national and international research trips.

Artspace Aotearoa are excited to see our colleagues flourish as a direct result of their experience at the gallery. Past Assistant Curators have gone on into curatorial positions with other reputable art organisations. Others have become critics, writers, and successful freelancers with esteemed national and international institutions.
