Waiheke Community Art Gallery inspires and delights, bringing the best of New Zealand art to the island and offers the best of Waiheke art to the world.
The Gallery is now looking for an exceptional individual to take up the role of Gallery Director following the well-earned retirement of our current director.
Over 25 years the Waiheke Community Art Gallery has built a solid reputation for excellence through its annual exhibition programme, its development of emerging artists, and making the visual arts accessible to our community. It will continue to play an important role in the current and future art community in Waiheke Island, Auckland, and the broader arts community in New Zealand.
You will be the public face of the gallery and will need to have experience across a broad range of arts and culture management including public programme development and delivery, supporting artists, audience development, marketing communications and assisting the Gallery’s volunteer board with strategy development. You will have strong and relevant networks and know how to leverage these in the service of our mahi.
Supported by the gallery team you will oversee all operational aspects of the gallery including planning and delivery of the exhibition programme, public engagement, visitor experience, fund raising, budget management and volunteer coordination. In addition to the annual gallery exhibition calendar, you will also have responsibility for the planning and delivery of the annual Waiheke Homes Tour, the Walker and Hall Waiheke Art Award and other Gallery run events.
Reporting directly to the Chair of the Gallery Committee, you will be responsible for supporting, coordinating, and working closely with guest curators, artists, contractors and other professionals.
Expressions of interest in the role will close 5pm Monday, 28th February 2022
