The Dowse Art Museum is pleased to welcome Karl Chitham (Nga Puhi) as their new Director. He will take up his new role early January 2019. Karl comes to The Dowse from Tauranga Art Gallery where he spent three years as Director.

About his new role, Karl said, “I’m excited to bring my dedication to artistic excellence, collaboration and audience engagement to my new role. The Dowse is an important and exciting member of the Lower Hutt and contemporary art communities and I look forward to building on its successes and strengths.”

The Dowse currently has a full program of exhibitions and events scheduled including "SOLO 2018" which brings together new art by local artists: Andrew Beck, Deanna Dowling, Sonya Lacey, Dave Marshall, Matthew McIntyre-Wilson and Annie McKenzie.
