Objectspace is the leading public gallery in Aotearoa dedicated to the fields of craft, design and architecture. It delivers an annual programme of exhibitions and publishing, and more than 50 free public programmes and events. The gallery also delivers extensive services to the craft/object sector.

Objectspace is looking for an individual to fill the key role of Public Programme and Events Coordinator. This position will lead the implementation of Objectspace’s annual programme of public programmes and events including talks, workshops, performances and venue hire. The role encompasses Objectspace's renowned annual Ockham Lecture Series and Coffee & Croissants. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting audience engagement and education at Objectspace.


Primary functions:

-To effectively manage and implement Objectspace’s annual public programme and events schedules

-To lead event management for exhibition openings, and other special events

-To assist key Objectspace staff in the development of public programming, fostering audience development and engagement

-To manage all enquiries and bookings related to venue hire


The candidate will:

-Excel in event management, with outstanding communication skills

-Be passionate about growing audience engagement for the arts

-Value the opportunity to work in a small dynamic team

-Demonstrate a strong understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and be committed to working within bicultural and multi-cultural frameworks

-Hold a tertiary qualification in a related field and have proven work experience of more than three years in relevant roles

-This is a permanent part-time position (20 hours per week). Commencing in early 2022.

-Be legally entitled to work in Aoteaora

-Be available for regular weekend and evening work.
