Objectspace is delighted to welcome architecture and urbanism practice Architectus on board as Strategic Design Partner. With its support, the gallery will develop one major design exhibition annually exploring the ways architecture and design matter in Aotearoa.

This association will be marked with our largest show ever, Toro Whakaara: Responses to our built environment presented by Architectus opening this October 2021 across both Objectspace and CoCA. The show examines the power and politics of place, with 10 architects, designers and artists commissioned to make new work in response to the exhibition.

Objectspace Director Kim Paton says she is proud of this partnership with the firm Architectus which strengthens the gallery’s ties to the sector and will power exhibition making capabilities.

"The support from Architectus of Objectspace comes at a time of growing ambition for the gallery as it serves the fields of craft, design and architecture. It is heartening for this partnership to come to fruition at a critical time for the arts."

Architectus Principal James Mooney says the practice is delighted to partner with Objectspace to broaden the conversation around the built environment and its role in the cultural landscape.
