Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to use your discerning appreciation of current practice in both a local and global context and to play a pivotal role in developing the model and profile of a gallery.
Depot Artspace is looking for a knowledgeable arts professional with a minimum of 3-5 years of gallery experience and a thorough understanding of local and contemporary art along with gallery management and exhibition curation to join the team.

The Exhibition Curator and Gallery Manager will work closely with the wider organisational team to provide curatorial leadership for contemporary art exhibitions and to develop and grow the gallery in a sustainable and exciting way.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will offer meaningful exhibition and public programme experiences that engage audiences of different backgrounds and interests.
You will work collaboratively with the wider Gallery and DEPOT team and other external partners. You will be an accomplished communicator with sound interpersonal skills and a warm professional approach, you will be able to form partnerships and engage diverse local, regional and national audiences.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience speaking to the public and media. The ability to write appropriately for different channels and to a variety of target audiences is also a must.
To be successful in this role, you will have a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and biculturalism and be aligned with the DEPOT’s purpose and ambitions.
Most importantly, you will be a positive manager and collaborative team member, well organised and will bring strong research, writing and public speaking capabilities to the role.
This permanent, full-time role offers flexibility around WFH days and working hours depending on the applicant and exhibition/event needs.
