Pātaka Art + Museum is a vibrant art gallery, museum, performance space and community hub located in Porirua. As well as showcasing the best in Māori, Pacific, & contemporary New Zealand arts, we also aspire to enhance the wellbeing of the people and communities of Porirua through the arts.

All about the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our curatorial team in delivering community exhibitions that enhance Porirua’s artistic and cultural heritage.

In this role you will:

-Work with artists and staff to deliver community exhibitions
-Prepare annual exhibition plan
-Design and install exhibitions, including producing printed labels and materials
-Positively interact with the public providing them with information about the exhibitions


All about you

Ideally you will have a background in fine art or art history studies.

You’ll need to show us that you:

-have knowledge and experience working with diverse cultural communities with a museum or art gallery
-are skilled at exhibition display techniques
-have the skills to plan exhibitions and work within budgets
-have a passion for cultural heritage and an understanding of bi-cultural issues
-have some knowledge of marketing strategies for online and social media.
