Waikato Museum are looking for an effective leader with experience in the Museum, gallery, tourism or creative sectors to join them as their new Visitor Experience Manager.

This is a rare opportunity in a leadership role within the Waikato Museum. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the best possible experience for visitors and ensuring an audience-lens is applied to all Museum activities onsite, offsite and online.

You will develop positive best practice for our front-of-house services with a focus on growing our visitor loyalty or satisfaction.

The Museum is closing for refurbishment during 2024, which makes this an exciting time to join the team and ensure that the visitor experience is front of mind for the future. Waikato Museum Te Whare Taonga o Waikato are working toward an exciting programme upon reopening the doors in December 2024, and this is your chance to lead the development and implementation of this.

Requirements:

At least 7 years' experience in a relevant field such as museums, tourism, education programmes.
A relevant qualification would be beneficial.
A demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team.
Exceptional communication skills.
A strong understanding of tikanga and a knowledge of Te Reo Maaori and Te Ao Maaori is preferred.
