Te Whare Toi o Heretaunga Hastings City Art Gallery is the home of contemporary art in Hawke’s Bay, Aotearoa New Zealand. Located in the heart of Civic Square in Hastings-Heretaunga, we work with artists and our communities to grow creativity within the region, and to explore the role of arts and culture in the world we live in. The Gallery, which opened in the 1970s, presents a lively programme of local, national, and international contemporary art.

Te Whare Toi o Heretaunga is looking to expand its team and is currently seeking a full-time Educator. The recruitment of this role comes at a time when the Gallery is strengthening its artistic programme, public delivery, and support for artists – and its relationships to its communities and visitors of all ages.


Educator (full-time)

The purpose of this position is in the development and delivery of a dynamic series of high-quality contemporary art education programmes. The Educator will foster connections between Gallery and schools, community groups, kaiako and ākonga within the region, under the supervision of the Education and Programmes Lead.

The Educator supports young people’s participation in life-long learning through arts and culture and maintains and seeks to increase Gallery’s school visitation and participation in the ELC programme.
