In this monthly tour and talk series, participants are invited to analyse and debate art, discussing delightful and curly questions along the way.
Join us for a short, entertaining look at part of our current exhibitions followed by a conversation in our boardroom. No knowledge of art history is required. This is a tour for people even if they are not sure contemporary art is their cup of tea—followed by a cup of tea. Or coffee. And a biscuit.
March Topic Artificial Flavour: Martin Basher and Ben Buchanan create artworks which explore and challenge the capacity for painting to depict the world around us. At a time when a climate emergency, extractive capitalist excess, and misinformation have fractured our collective consensus, how can we trust art to guide us toward notions of ‘truth’ or ‘reality’? Join us this month for a guided tour of Basher and Buchanan’s current exhibition Sour Grapes, followed by an expanded discussion about contemporary painting in a ‘post-truth’ world.
