For the 2022 Aotearoa Art Fair, Ngātahi will invite vistors to take part in Kahoa making workshops with artist Sione Monū.

Sione Monū is an artist of the Tongan diaspora. They live between Canberra Australia and Auckland and work across the mediums of photography, moving-image, fashion and adornment, performance and drawing exploring identity, family and pasifika queer experience in the diaspora.

Sione Monū says; “This workshop will be making kahoa around my experimental work with nimamea’a tuikakala; or the Tongan fine art of flower designing using the form of kahoa or Tongan garland.”

Rendered as a creative space for critical dialogue and collaborative making, Ngātahi’s booth at the Fair invites you to learn, discuss and make something beautiful! Workshops will run daily, with plenty of opportunity to join in.

Ngātahi is a collaboration of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland arts organisations Artspace Aotearoa, Gus Fisher Gallery, Objectspace, ST PAUL St Gallery, Te Tuhi and Te Uru.

Aotearoa Art Fair is where 40+ galleries showcase the work of more than 180 of our region’s most exciting artists, alongside artist talks, commissioned artworks by emerging artists, a new outdoor sculpture space overlooking the Waitematā harbour, an art book shop, and cafes and bars from some of New Zealand’s favourite brands.

New Zealand’s premier showcase for contemporary art takes place from Wednesday 16 November – Sunday 20 November 2022 at The Cloud on Auckland’s Queens Wharf.
