Everyone is welcome to attend this free, one-off screening presented by CIRCUIT with support from the Asia New Zealand Foundation Te Whītau Tūhono at soft shell.

Space-Body Entanglement features a selection of video and film work by six Thai artists that explores the interplay between the body and the spatial environment. Throughout the programme the physical and transcendental aspects of the depicted body interact within various landscapes, offering an exploration of spatiality, including that of the cinema screen itself. Encompassing an array of diverse forms and interpretations these works explore deafness, supernatural visitations, Cold War histories, images of depression and Thai animation history.

Space-Body Entanglement is selected by Bangkok-based curator Mary Pasanga. It features work by Jeanne Penjan Lassus, Pam Virada, Saroot Supasuthivech, Tulapop Saenjaroen, Korakrit Arunanondchai & Alex Gvojic (with Tosh Basco), and Pathompon Mont Tesprateep. Artist Tanatchai Bandasak will stage an intervention in the gallery to accompany the programme.

The 75 minute screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Mary Pansanga and Tanatchai Bandasak. To read more about the programme, and read the full list of works, click here.

Space-Body Entanglement is presented by CIRCUIT, The Physics Room, and soft shell in association with the exhibition Homing Instinct.

Additional screenings are taking place at The Physics Room, Ōtautahi Christchurch (Wednesday 28 August 5pm), and The Pyramid Club, Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington (Thursday 29 August, 6pm).

The visit of Mary Pansanga and Tanatchai Bandasak is supported by the Asia New Zealand Foundation Te Whītau Tūhono.
