Auckland Botanic Gardens presents Holding Ground a unique indoor sculpture exhibition featuring works by more than 40 prominent Aotearoa artists, running from 18 November to 3 March.
This free event, curated by sculptor Cheryl Wright, showcases diverse artistic mediums including glass, wood, bronze, and recycled materials. It replaces the postponed Sculpture in the Gardens, offering dynamic and evolving displays to complement the seasonal changes of the gardens. Large dramatic pieces and delicate smaller works aim to delight visitors, merging the therapeutic effects of art and nature.
Supported by the Friends of Auckland Botanic Gardens, Holding Ground not only promotes local artists but also enriches visitors' experiences, combining gardening's wellbeing benefits with the transformative power of art. The exhibition, alongside the gardens' permanent outdoor sculpture
