Twentysix presents Playground, featuring work that explores nature, dreams, and lived experiences from across Aotearoa.

Ranging from earth pigment paintings to rug tufting, these pieces encourage deeper reflection on how we remember, experience, and reimagine the world around us. Moments from everyday life are made ethereal, where nostalgic symbols and intimate scenes invite a playful dialogue between both tangible and imagined memories.

Jess Swney explores connections to her female lineage through her textile practice, using monks cloth and wool to explore relationships between people and place. With a similarly introspective approach, CJ Ghatt works across mediums, using natural pigments, oil, cotton, and silk to depict moments of stillness. Rosa Allison allows intuition to lead her painting, drawing inspiration from dreams, observations of nature, colour field painting and surrealism. Gabriella Voogt also paints from memory, using a distinct colour palette with brushstrokes ranging from thin washes to thick dabs of paint. Lewis Cosgrave paints trivial scenes, with a roughly outlined and seemingly unfinished style, guided by notional grooves of thought.

Join us for the opening celebration of Playground on Friday evening, 24th January, from 5pm, with beverages generously provided by Duncans Brewery.
