Aotearoa Art Fair, presented in partnership with ANZ Private and Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, is set to deliver its most exciting edition yet. Running from 1–4 May at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland, the 2025 Fair will be the largest, most internationally diverse yet, showcasing 45 galleries from 11 regions.
This milestone show will feature over 150 local and international artists and marks the first under the leadership of new Fair Director, Sue Waymouth, who brings a fresh vision to the event. A bold new standard for the event will be set, amplifying its presence and cementing its place as New Zealand’s premier event for contemporary art.
Sue Waymouth expresses her enthusiasm for the upcoming Fair: "This year’s Fair expands well beyond Auckland and Wellington, welcoming galleries from across New Zealand—alongside an exceptional lineup of international galleries and artists from across the globe. The combination of established, prominent galleries complemented by a number of new, cutting-edge younger galleries will bring a fresh dynamic to the Fair. This diverse representation further solidifies Aotearoa Art Fair as a key event on the region’s cultural calendar. During the week of the Fair, the city will come alive with art, including large-scale sculptures, live performances, and activations in retail and gallery spaces. We’re thrilled to present what we believe will be our strongest edition yet, bringing together an incredible community of artists, gallerists, collectors, and the art-curious for four days of inspiration and connection."
The 2025 lineup features 13 international galleries, including notable participants from Australia such as Gallery Sally Dan-Cuthbert, Martin Browne Contemporary, Nanda\Hobbs, Fine Arts Sydney, and N.Smith Gallery, presenting alongside exciting newcomers OLSEN Gallery (Sydney), day01. (Sydney), and Parker Contemporary (Brisbane). These galleries will present a range of exceptional artists from across the Pacific Rim, enriching the Fair’s already diverse mix of contemporary and experimental works.
The 2025 Fair will also unveil the Horizons sector—an exciting new initiative dedicated to spotlighting emerging talent. This special section, presented in partnership with Chapman Tripp and curated by Becky Hemus, editor of The Art Paper, will celebrate the next generation of artists and their bold creative practices. Chapman Tripp, a law firm with a legacy of navigating complex strategic mandates, marks its 150th anniversary by supporting these visionary newcomers.
Alongside the dynamic gallery presentations, visitors can engage with the curated Talks Programme, ‘Lets Talk Art’ presented by Aon, which will see 30 speakers give ten talks on art, design, and architecture. First-time visitors can take advantage of guided tours led by leading artists and curators, offering insights into the Fair’s incredible diversity. Art lovers can also explore a curated bookshop presented by Lamplight Books, while enjoying hospitality offerings by Savor Group, featuring Champagne Pommery, Two Rivers Wine, and illy coffee. Aotearoa Art Fair 2025 promises to be a truly immersive experience—an essential event for those seeking to engage with the very best of contemporary art. With more galleries, more international exhibitors, and exciting new features, this year’s Fair is set to be an unforgettable celebration of creativity, innovation, and cultural exchange.
