The Dunedin Public Art Gallery is delighted to announce that their Ihupukutaka Kairaupī Curatorial Intern for 2021 is Piupiu Maya Turei (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa, Ātihaunui-ā-Pāpārangi).

Piupiu is a curator, artist and mother. Interested in contemporary toi Māori, she has curated a number of exhibitions focused on how culture is expressed through art. Strongly engaged in the art community of Ōtepoti, Piupiu will be involved with all aspects of curatorial work at DPAG, including a major upcoming project with Paemanu Ngāi Tahu Contemporary Visual Arts. The DPAG is looking forward to welcoming her into their whānau in the upcoming weeks.
