Call for expressions of interest: Caselberg artist residency summer 2024-25

With the support of the Caselberg Trust, Blue Oyster is calling for expressions of interest to undertake a summer artist residency at the Caselberg habourside cottage in Broad Bay, Muaupoko. The residency will run over three weeks in January 2025, from Monday, January 6 to Monday, January 26, followed by an exhibition at Blue Oyster opening in December 2025.

The Caselberg artist residency offers an opportunity for an Aotearoa-based artist to have dedicated time for making and research, with the benefits of experiencing the histories and location of the Caselberg house/studio and proximity to the unique resources available in Ōtepoti.

Further details about the Caselberg Trust and the cottage/studio can be found on their website, here.

Deadline for applications: 5pm Friday, September 20, 2024

Preferred applicant will be notified by Monday, October 7, 2024, with a final offer made in November once funding is confirmed.

The residency will include:

Accommodation and a studio space at the Caselberg cottage/studio will be provided. Blue Oyster is applying for further funding from the Dunedin City Council for the residency, which, if successful, will cover an artist stipend of $1000 per week (for a total of $3000), a $500 contribution to travel costs and $1000 for artist/research materials. The results for this funding will be confirmed by the end of November 2024.
