Contemporary HUM (the only online platform dedicated to Aotearoa New Zealand visual arts presented abroad) is growing and seeking a Senior Editor and a Social Media Manager to join the expanding international team.


SENIOR EDITOR:
Internationally based, remote work 12-month contractor role
Average 8 hrs p/week, NZ$30 p/hr

About the position: This is a 12-month contractor role to oversee the delivery of HUM’s editorial vision through the coordination of our publishing programme, starting January 2023.

Contemporary HUM is an online forum for Aotearoa New Zealand arts abroad. We champion the international projects of NZ creative practitioners through publishing, events, and projects, and are looking for a dedicated Senior Editor to join us at an exciting moment in HUM’s development.

This new role reports directly to the Director and is responsible for delivering Contemporary HUM’s twice-monthly writing output, and includes coordinating HUM’s international network of editors, commissioning essays, leading editorial meetings and contributing towards HUM’s general communications.

We are looking for someone with a broad and in-depth understanding of the contemporary art world, an astute editorial eye, and an unwavering enthusiasm for Aotearoa art and artists. Although it is not necessary to be from Aotearoa, the role requires experience, knowledge and relationships within this local art scene, yet to be based abroad and be globally focused.

We champion the international projects of NZ creative practitioners through publishing, events, and projects, and we are looking for a highly organised Social Media Manager to join our small, but growing, non-profit organisation, to start as soon as possible.

This role requires researching worldwide activity in relation to New Zealand visual arts and preparing it for inclusion in our calendar page and social media promotion, as well as making it available to our entire editorial team. This role is responsible for developing and executing an overall social media strategy and assisting our Communications Director.
