Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is a cultural leader in Aotearoa New Zealand. Established in 1888, the Gallery holds a preeminent collection of New Zealand art and a significant collection of International art, and presents a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions, public engagement and outreach activities.

An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Curatorial Assistant to support the Head of Curatorial and Learning in the successful running of Auckland Art Gallery’s Curatorial department. The position will also support the Senior Curator, Global Contemporary Art on the delivery of the Gallery’s busy contemporary art exhibitions, commissioning and acquisitions programme in 2024.

Auckland Art Gallery are looking for someone with a keen interest in New Zealand and international art, to work with professional colleagues at a challenging and exciting period of the Gallery's development. This is an excellent opportunity for someone building their career to gain experience at Aotearoa New Zealand's leading visual arts institution.

He kōrero mōu: About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Tertiary qualifications in marketing or in business with a marketing focus
- A graduate qualification in Art History or related discipline
- Experience working in a support role to curators or academics as an intern or research assistant is desirable
- Experience working collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience keeping detailed records, including minute taking and report writing
- Experience using collection management software (preferably Vernon CMS) is desirable
- Experience in using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
