City Gallery Wellington is at Risk.

Experience Wellington – a Wellington City Council controlled organisation that operates Capital E, Space Place, City Gallery, Nairn Street Cottage, Wellington Museum, and the Cable Car Museum – have internally announced a restructure proposal that we believe will have a swift and devastating effect on City Gallery Wellington Te Whare Toi.

It is widely understood that the proposed restructure would aim to centralise the leadership of these individual organisations, in the process disestablishing the roles of director and chief curator at City Gallery Wellington Te Whare Toi. The internal consultation period has already ended at Experience Wellington, with final decisions to be made by 26 May.

Public pressure is essential.

The Dominion Post are also "seeking to run a selection of lively letters about how the WCC handles arts – from the lack of venues to the planned changes at Experience Wellington."
