Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū is a catalyst for ambitious creativity in Ōtautahi Christchurch, collaborating with artists, and extending the Gallery’s influence beyond its walls.
Our focus is on investing in the creation of new work, from its inception through to its potential acquisition, and representing the Gallery’s programme in a new integrated way that reflects Christchurch now. Our collection is this city’s treasury of art, a pātaka of our history, a rich armoury of images, memories and ideas. It’s part of us, and it gets more interesting over time, as works of art connect with us and each other, combining with our histories to enrich us all.

The Physics Room is a contemporary art space dedicated to developing and promoting contemporary art and critical discourse in Aotearoa. Based in central Ōtautahi since 1996, we assist artists with resources and opportunities to enable creative and professional development, and work to support the acknowledgement and understanding of contemporary art among New Zealanders. Our goal is to actively seek links between the arts and other areas of cultural production, and to involve art as a contributing voice in wider intellectual, social, and political debate.

Objectspace is Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading gallery dedicated to design, craft and architecture. Through exhibitions, events and publishing, the gallery celebrates the past, present and future of the country’s material culture.
Objectspace’s architectural outpost in Ōtautahi Christchurch is the former workplace, home and gallery of Sir Miles Warren. Designed in 1975 to wrap around the back garden at 65 Cambridge Terrace, the space is crafted in Sir Miles’ iconic modernist style.
In March 2023, The Warren Trust generously gifted the use of the gallery space to Objectspace, with the support of its current tenants, Te Kahui Whaihanga NZIA Canterbury Branch and Athfield Architects. After a great six months of programming exhibitions and events in the space, Objectspace committed to continuing to run the space as a satellite gallery alongside their main space in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
