Te Pātaka Toi Adam Art Gallery is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate Lepper to the new role of Public Programmes and Communications Coordinator.
Kate holds a Master of Fine Arts (Distinction) from the Slade School of Fine Art, London, and is a practising artist with a broad range of experience in art galleries and cultural institutions in Aotearoa and the United Kingdom. Kate joins Te Pātaka Toi Adam Art Gallery from the New Zealand School of Music—Te Kōkī, having previously worked for Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision, Sarjeant Gallery Te Whare o Rehua, and in London, for Somerset House, Chisenhale Gallery, The Showroom, Gasworks, and The White Building.
Adam Art Gallery director Christina Barton explains that “Kate will be coordinating events at the Gallery and providing oversight for all our communications. Her experience working in galleries and for cultural organisations both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, her keen enthusiasm to clearly convey information about our work, and her warm personality will provide us with a newly focused approach to engaging our audiences.
“As social media and digital tools have transformed how galleries connect with their communities, we want to take a more coordinated and clever approach to these new modes of outreach. We also know that a third of our visitors are attending events we have conceived to accompany every exhibition.
“This new role is a vital one. I don’t doubt it is a big job, with lots of challenges, but Kate is clearly keen to get started and we are confident she has the qualities that will see her thrive in the role.”
